چکیده

In order to investigate the impact of microstructures and deformation mechanisms on the ductility of materials, the criterion first proposed by Rice is applied to elastic-plastic tangent moduli derived from a large strain micromechanical model combined with a self-consistent scale transition technique. This approach takes into account several microstructural aspects for polycrystalline aggregates: initial and induced textures, dislocation densities as well as softening mechanisms such that the behavior during complex loading paths can be accurately described. In order to significantly reduce the computing time, a new method drawn from viscoplastic formulations is introduced so that the slip system activity can be efficiently determined. The different aspects of the single crystal hardening (self and latent

Implementing the New First and Second Differentiation of a General Yield Surface in Explicit and Implicit Rate-Independent Plasticity

In the current research with novel first and second differentiations of a yield function, Euler forward along with Euler backward with its consistent elastic-plastic modulus are newly implemented in finite element program in rate-independent plasticity. An elastic-plastic internally pressurized thick walled cylinder is analyzed with four famous criteria including both pressure dependent and ind...

Strain localization analysis for single crystals and polycrystals: Towards microstructure-ductility linkage

In this paper, we performed a strain localization analysis for single crystals and polycrystals, with the specific aim of establishing a link between the microstructure-related parameters and ductility. To this end, advanced large-strain elastic–plastic single crystal constitutive modeling is adopted, accounting for the key physical mechanisms that are relevant at the microscale, such as disloc...

Engineering Critical Assessments of Marine Pipelines with 3D Surface Cracks Considering Weld Mismatch

Offshore pipelines are usually constructed by the use of girth welds, while welds may naturally contain flaws. Currently, fracture assessment procedures such as BS 7910 are based on the stress-based methods and their responses for situations with large plastic strain is suspicious. DNV-OS-F101 with limited modifications proposes a strain-based procedure for such plastic loads. In this paper 3D ...

Constitutive Model for Multi-laminate Induced Anisotropic Double Hardening Elastic-plasticity of Sand

A constitutive multi-laminate based elastic-plastic model developed to be capable of accounting induced anisotropic behavior of granular material such as sand. The fabric feature or grain orientation characteristic effects through medium are considered in a rational way under any complex stress path, including cyclic loading. The salient feature of the developed model is a non-associative on pl...

Finite-element Formulations for Problems of Large Elastic-plastic Deformation

Abstract-An Eulerian finite element formulation is presented for problems of large elastic-plastic flow. The method is based on Hill’s variational principle for incremental deformations, and is ideally suited to isotropically hardening Prandtl-Reuss materials. Further, the formulation is given in a manner which allows any conventions finite element program, for “small strain” elastic-plastic an...
